“Valoi” is a Finnish word meaning light and creation — a nod to the creativity of analog photography. The Scandinavian roots of VALOI are visible in the minimalist and functional design.
VALOI easy35 V2 Specialty Film Holders are alternatives to the standard 35mm film holder that comes with the VALOI easy35 V2 scanning system. The easy35 v2 Holders feature improvements over the V1 holders, including a 5-point spring-loaded ball-bearing film holder system, ensuring consistent parallelism and faster holder changes. As part of VALOI's Custom Series, they aim to support niche formats (35mm Half Frame, 35mm sprocket, 110, 126, APS, Minox, etc.) that are otherwise difficult to scan. All VALOI easy35 V2 holders work via a simple pull-through design, allowing for a fast and seamless workflow compared to a traditional clamshell-style holder. All VALOI holders employ a double-S curve design, which bends the film slightly on both sides of the gate to force the negative flat, solving the common "curl" issues found in film and ensuring excellent flatness for the highest quality scans.
35mm Mounted Slide Holder
Allows users to scan standard 50x50mm mounted 35mm slides. Featuring a custom leaf-spring locating mechanism, the holder applies downward pressure to force the slide into the central alignment area, ensuring consistent focus and framing for every shot. The "push-through" design allows you to scan as fast as you can feed the slides, with the new slide simply displacing the previous one.
35mm Half Frame Holder
Allows users to scan 35mm half frame film at optimal quality, masking of extra light and shortening the film path for optimal flatness. Gate Size: 20.5 x 26mm, showing the whole image with a small border.
35mm Sprocket Holder
Allows users to scan beyond the standard image area. By utilizing a larger gate, it reveals a portion of the film's sprockets and edge markings, providing a unique aesthetic for your digital conversions. Gate Size: 40x33mm. Note: Scanning with visible sprockets introduces significant light into the lens; high-performance lenses with excellent flare control are recommended for best contrast.
110 Film Holder
Allows users to scan 110 pocket film (16mm wide). With a gate size of 19 x 14.5mm, it captures the entire 13 x 17mm frame.
APS Film Holder
Allows users to scan APS film. It supports frames up to 30.2 x 16.9mm, allowing for the full capture of APS film. Gate Size: 32.2 x 21.4mm.
126 Film Holder
Allows users to scan 126 format film—35mm wide with 26.5 x 26.5mm frames. Because 126 film features a unique offset frame, this holder utilizes an asymmetrical gate design to ensure the image is perfectly centered for your camera sensor while maintaining the necessary tension for flatness. Gate Size: 30 x 32mm.
Minox Film Holder
Brings professional scanning capabilities to the ultra-miniature format. Designed for 9.2mm wide Minox film with 8 x 11mm frames. Gate Size: 13 x 7.7mm.
Compatibility
The easy35 V2 Specialty Film Holders work with the easy35 V2 system. They are not backwards compatible with the original easy35 (V1) system. They are also not compatible with the VALOI 360 or easy120 systems.
