ADOX was founded in 1860 as the world's first photochemical factory. Over the next several decades, it became one of the leading film producers in Europe. Today, ADOX films, papers, and chemistry are proudly manufactured in Germany by an incredibly passionate team of film photography enthusiasts.
ADOX HR-50 is based on a superpanchromatic B&W emulsion commonly available for technical purposes, featuring ultra-fine grain, excellent sharpness, and very high resolution. The film's speed is enhanced to ISO 50/18° using ADOX´s new unique SPEED BOOST- technology, especially when paired with its recommended dedicated developer, the ADOX HR-50 Developer.
Thanks to its high resolution, sharpness, and fine grain, ADOX HR-50 is especially well suited to landscape, architecture, and travel photography. Among all current B&W negative films on the market, only ADOX CMS 20 II has significantly finer grain than HR-50.
Its extended red sensitivity means that ADOX HR-50 can be used as a near-infrared film. To maximize the "infrared look" (green leaves become white), a strong IR filter which blocks visible light below 715 nanometers is recommended.
