Double-S curve ensures excellent film flatness
Easy to install
Product Details
“Valoi” is a Finnish word meaning light and creation — a nod to the creativity of analog photography. The Scandinavian roots of VALOI are visible in the minimalist and functional design.
VALOI easy35 Specialty Film Holders are alternatives to the standard 35mm film holder that comes with the VALOI easy35 scanning system. As part of VALOI's Custom Series, they aim to support niche formats (35mm Half Frame, 35mm sprocket, 110, 126, APS, Minox, etc.) that are otherwise difficult to scan. Select your film holder of choice from the Format drop-down menu above.
VALOI easy35 holders work by feeding the film into a thin slit that runs through the entire easy35 housing. With gloved hands to prevent fingerprints, users can simply push or pull the film through the holder, saving time and effort when compared to a traditional clamshell-style holder. All VALOI holders employ a double-S curve design, which ensures excellent flatness for the highest quality scans.
The easy35 Specialty Film Holders are compatible only with the easy35 scanning system. Specialty film holders for the VALOI 360 scanning system can be found here.
35mm Half Frame Holder
Allows users to scan 35mm half frame film at optimal quality, masking of extra light and shortening the film path for optimal flatness. The gate dimensions are Length: 21mm, Width: 25.7mm, showing the whole frame with a small border.
35mm Sprocket Holder
Allows users to scan more of the frame, including the open sprockets of the film. The gate dimensions are Length: 38.7mm, Width: 33.25mm. Note: some lenses have too poor contrast and flare control to scan film with visible sprockets. This is due to the strong intensity of the light shining into the lens.
110 Film Holder
Allows users to scan 110 film that is 16mm wide and has a frame size of 13x17mm or less. The gate dimensions are approximately: 18mm(L), 14.40mm(W), allowing you to see the whole frame. Due to the small size of the frame, it is not guaranteed that the whole frame will be seen but the holder has been designed to show the largest amount of the frame possible while retaining good flatness and stability.
APS Film Holder
Allows users to scan APS film that is 24mm wide and has a frame size of 30.2x16.9mm (APS-H format) or less. The gate dimensions are approximately 33.2mm(L), 21.4mm(W), allowing users to see the whole frame and the some of the rebate area around.
126 Film Holder
Allows users to scan 126 film that is 35mm wide and has a frame size of 26.5x26.5mm or less. The holder has an asymmetrical design, showing more of one side of the frame than the other, in the same way the 126 frame is offset on the film. The gate dimensions are approximately: 32mm(L), 32mm(W), allowing users to see the whole frame and the some of the rebate area around.
Minox Film Holder
Allows users to scan Minox film that is 9.2mm wide and has a frame size of 8x11mm. Since the format is so small and there has been some variance over the years, there is no guarantee that the whole frame will be in view. The gate dimensions are approximately 12mm(L), 8mm(W).
