What's Going on with 400D?
Posted by Arvin Santiago on
Our 400D EARLY BIRD orders for 35mm and 120 Medium Format have been shipping out over the last couple of months, which means that by now, most all of our EARLY BIRD backers should have received your new 400D film! We love seeing the photos and videos of your film arriving all over the world, and seeing all the photos starting to appear on the #CineStill400D hashtag. But what about the rest of the film for those that didn't pre-order an EARLY BIRD level? And what about being able to buy 400D from your local camera stores? Well, we have some updates for everyone.
400D NON-EARLY BIRD SHIPPING UPDATES
If you backed one of the other campaign tiers for 35mm, 120, 4x5, and 220 — which is every backer level other than the 3 EARLY BIRD levels — there's some new updates:- Our second round of 400D manufacturing is wrapping up in the next few weeks. When that is finished, we are going to be able to fulfill all non-EARLY BIRD tiers for 35mm and 120 Medium Format. We expect this process to begin in the next few weeks, but there are over 5000 orders to fulfill, so we appreciate your patience as we work to get this film to all of you that pre-ordered!
- For those that have backed one of our 400D 4x5 tiers, we're expecting to begin production later this fall with the plan to fulfill them ASAP after that, which at this point could be early winter. We hope to have them sooner but the 4x5 process is something we haven't done on a regular basis, so we want to make sure we do it right!
- We're still looking into the viability of 220, but expect updates on this to be later this year, either in the late summer/fall, once we've had a chance to get 4x5 production rolling.
400D RETAIL AVAILABILITY
We've heard from many of you that are asking about when you will be able to buy 400D from your local camera store. Our first priority is making sure all backers of the 400D FILM MAKER Campaign receive their film, and then we will begin rolling out the film to retail partners worldwide. Our third round of 400D manufacturing will begin in the next week, which means we expect the 35mm and 120 medium format to be available in your local camera stores later this summer / fall. To be notified when 400D is in stock on our online store, use your email to sign up for in-stock notifications on the 400D 35mm listing or the 400D 120 listing and click NOTIFY ME.SHARE YOUR PHOTOS WITH US!
